If you have questions about us, about our mission and vision, about our site, or about how we can help you or how you can help, please let us know! We’d love to hear from you and will respond to you as soon as we are able.
We wanted to make a difference in the world, and we wanted to try to contribute to real needs in the world. As we thought about and asked others about what world-wide needs exist, one theme that we couldn’t ignore was that the world is in need of more hope, and the gospel of Jesus Christ is perfectly suited to help address that need. We hope that much of what we do offers benefits beyond hope, and we readily recognize that much of the benefit of the kinds of light offered here take time to really develop, but we hope with all our hearts that people who seek greater hope can find it here, starting today. We’re always open to suggestions though, so if you have thoughts about a better name for us (and if it’s one that’s available for us to use), let us know your thoughts! We’d also love to know what you think of when you hear our current name “Greater Hope Today.”
Green has long been a symbol of hope. Additionally, it connotes life, growth, and rebirth. We strive to help others find hope through growth in the gospel and as they find new or renewed life in Christ. All of these concepts are core to what we’re trying to accomplish, so it seemed a fitting color to use.
Purple represents royalty. We believe each of us has royalty - even deity - within us (for example, see Acts 17:29, Romans 8:14, 16). We hope to help cultivate and nourish the royalty in everyone, and in all things, help others draw nearer to the Prince of Peace and King of Kings. We love the following statement from C. S. Lewis:
“It is a serious thin to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship… It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all of our dealings with one another… There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.” from, The Weight of Glory
Purple reminds us who we are (and thus how we should live), who you are, and to Whom we should turn to find greater hope, peace, and joy.
We hope our colors will come to have as much meaning to you as they do to us!
Yep! Part of what we hope to do is to help point others in the right direction, turn others to Christ, and to help them prepare to return to God’s presence. That’s where one of our Friends got the idea of incorporating the arrow in to our logo. Pretty fun, right?
Greater Hope Today started as an idea many years ago, but was officially formed in mid-2016. Two people worked on the project on and off, and a new Friend was brought on toward the end of 2017. We have been slowly growing ever since!
We currently have several thousand friends (approximately 4,000 as of this writing) who have subscribed to receive information from us tailored to their personal needs and interests. As of now, most of these friends live in North America (all three countries), but we have at least hundreds of others in many Spanish speaking countries throughout central and south America (including Portuguese-speaking friends in Brazil!), a few friends in Europe, and we know of at least one in India! In due time, we hope to have much more of a presence all throughout the world.
